about

This song is dedicated to 8-year-old Gabriel Taye who died on January 26, 2017. R.I.P.

lyrics

This week I read a post that said
The body of an 8-year-old boy was found
Passed out on the floor of his school and two days later
Hanging from the fan affixed to the ceiling of his bedroom
The noose that he learned how to tie on YouTube
'Cause it's not a thing that we're born to know

He heard the words but couldn't make any difference
His mom called, "Gabriel I'll never get through this"
If I believed I'd tell you god had a plan
Called his arch angel from the misery of man
But I don't so all I have are tired, trite cliched
Like man at least he has no more pain

I'm sad he had to die
To release all his pain
But not as sad as that
He felt he had no other way out
